John Issa Principal

Before founding Perimeter Architects in 2004, John Issa started his career learning the business of architecture at Perkins & Will Los Angeles. At Pleskow Rael and Michael Folonis Architects, John challenged his design process for several years working on projects throughout Los Angeles and New York. John developed a respect for the balance of design with the discipline of project management and budgetary constraints.

With more than 20 years of professional experience, John Issa has amassed an award winning portfolio of work, including custom residential, boutique retail spaces, and early childhood centers. He has lead design teams from the initial design phases through construction, on projects including Lill Residence, Lakeview Residence, 900 Shops on Michigan Avenue, and multiple locations of Lincoln Park Preschools.

He received his BArch from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 1994 and his Master’s degree from Columbia University New York in 2004. John was appointed as a Studio Assistant Professor in the Illinois Institute of Technology’s College of Architecture from 2004-2012; he stays involved by participating on design reviews. He has lectured at the Chicago Architecture Club. John is a member of Columbia University Club of Chicago, Chicago Council on Global Affairs, and serves as a board member of Ensemble Espanol.

John lives in Northfield with his wife Ana Miyares and their two boys.
