CONCORDIA PLACE COMMUNITY CENTER
Chicago, IL | 2006
This 24,000 SF project was a conversion of an existing catholic school into a community center with a childhood education center. The design supported classrooms, offices, flexible common gathering areas, a café and an art studio, while the 4,000 square foot addition was designed to include a multipurpose space for the kids and the community. The mission of the project was to support families in the nearby under-served community. Under a tight budget and no contingency built into the financing strategy, the team had to be diligent about saving costs while staying on an aggressive schedule. The project was phased to allow for the childhood center to open while the exterior and community spaces were being completed.
